Canon PowerShot G-6 7.1 Megapixel Digital Camera

Reviewed by: Vaishali

imageWow! What a picture! My boyfriend purchased this camera before a recent trip to Asia and it was definitely worth the $700 price tag.

Shaped more like a professional SLR, the Canon PowerShot G-6 has a nice (not too big, not too small rubberized handgrip that really helped maintain stability while taking photos. It even has a small finger hookӔ under the shutter release to help maintain a natural hold position. The squat, square housing is a nice size for the weight and the camera was very comfortable to carry or wear around the neck with a strap.

Of course, a Canon G wouldnt be the same without the flip-out and twist LCD monitor. The entire display panel can be folded (screen in) when not in use. It also flips out and twists 180 degrees to use it away from the camera. When folded in, the display sits flush with the rear of camera, making this version very sleek and easy to use.  The LCD monitor is 2Ҕ, one of the largest in this category of camera.

The most important part of this camera is its amazing picture quality. The pictures came out so clear that they almost looked too perfect to have been taken by an amateur.

As with all digital cameras, the only downfall to the G-6 was that in some of pictures taken in bright light, it looked as though we Photo-Shopped ourselves into the photo. I have found myself saying more than once no, that really is me standing on a tree in CambodiaӔ, or some such thing.

Overall a very good buy, worth every penny and seems durable enough to last a long time.
